“It has been our lifelong dream that one day, our foundation would be able to help children not only in Canada and the Philippines but also around the world. Little did we know, that our dream would come to fruition in 2013, when World Vision approached us with a beautiful partnership, with the set up of the Kol Hope Fund at World Vision – aimed specifically to help children with disabilities”

Kol Hope fund at World Vision impacts the lives of 971 disabled children

Kol Hope Foundation for Children is proud to announce that its newly established Kol Hope Fund at World Vision has already gone to a special project that supports and safeguards the well being of children living with disabilities in China.

The Kol Hope Fund at World Vision was created in June 2013 to specifically help children with disabilities and to devote its fundraising efforts to World Vision’s disability inclusion work. Disabled children are among the world’s poorest and most vulnerable children. They are the most neglected, stigmatized, the hardest to reach, and the children who are often left behind.

The Kol Hope Fund at World Vision has gone to benefit over 971 children with disabilities in Gansu, Hubei and Shaanxi provinces.

The projects’ many successes include among others, providing school tuition fees to children with disabilities, training 6 Special Education teachers, setting up partnership with the Disabled People’s Foundation of China, and constructing a school playground at the Jing Zhou Special Education School.

“It has been our lifelong dream that one day our Foundation would be able to help children not only in Canada and the Philippines but also around the world. Little did we know that our dream would come to fruition in 2013, when World Vision approached us with a beautiful partnership with the set up of the Kol Hope Fund at World Vision –aimed specifically to help children with disabilities, ” states Melinda Rustia, President of Kol Hope Foundation for Children.

“When my son Kol was born with severe disabilities, and unable to walk, talk, breathe or eat, I knew that there was a purpose why he was born with such complexities. Kol was a gift and was meant to inspire and unite us to help the less fortunate and the disabled children of the world. Though Kol is no longer with us, his life’s work and purpose continues, and I know he is smiling from heaven knowing that the Kol Hope Fund at World Vision has already begun making a huge difference in the lives of disabled children in China.”
